Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1987. Department contains sufficient area as well as 18 Laboratories. Mechanical Engineering Department was accredited in the year 2005 by NBA, AICTE, New Delhi and by Institution of Engineers, Kolkata in the year 1999. Most of the faculty members in the department have masters and above qualification and rest are appearing for PhD. The Department has full-fledged staff position as per AICTE and University norms. Department runs UG as well as PG in Mechanical Design. Department has students intake capacity of 60 for undergraduate level & 06 for post graduate level. Department has also started PhD research centre. Department organizes National, state level seminars and workshops for enhancing students centric learning process. Department possesses one Robot, one mini CNC lathe, Journal bearing test rig, Friction & wear test rig, FFT Analyzer, computerized heat exchanger test rig., computerized diesel engine test rig and better computing facility. Faculty of Department publishes technical articles in reputed and renowned journals, books for different universities and technical papers. Students enrol for various national and international competitions held by ASHRAE, SAE, and display their keen interest in developing skills. The Department has also signed the Memorandum of Understanding with well reputed companies for technical support and employment for the students. Department has students association “MESA” in which student activities are promoted. It also conducts Guest Lectures, Debate and Elocution programs, Poem Competition, sports and personality development programs under MESA. Also MESA publishes a Magazine “transMISSION” every year.
